New York State (NY) EV Rebate Programs

Rebates make the purchase of EVs more affordable to buyers who are looking to own either a fully electric vehicle or a Plug-in Hybrid.

If you live in NY, the following rebate programs are available for residents looking to buy a qualifying EV or install an eligible Level 2 EV charger at home.

1. Public Service Enterprise Group (PSEG) Long Island Rebate

Rebate: $500

PSEG Long Island offers a rebate amount of $500 for individuals who purchase the following Level 2 Smart Chargers:

  • Clipper Creek HCS40 (JuiceNet enabled)
  • ChargePoint Home, CPH-25
  • ChargePoint Home Flex, CPH-50
  • JuiceBox 32
  • JuiceBox 40
  • JuiceBox 48

2. Orange & Rockland Utilities (O&R) Rebate

Rebate Amount:  $450 

You can qualify for an instant rebate of $450 for purchasing a qualifying EV home charger on My ORU Store. 

You will only need to pre-enroll in the program to receive the instant rebate.

The qualifying chargers include:

  • JuiceBox 32.
  • JuiceBox 40

3. The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) Rebate

Rebate: Up to $2,000

If you are a New York resident, you can either purchase or lease an electric car or plug-in hybrid and qualify for the Drive Clean Rebate of up to $2000.

Eligibility and requirements

  • The drive clean rebate is for New York state residents.
  • The rebate amount depends on the new electric car’s EPA range.

4. Federal Tax Credit

Tax Credit: Up to $7,500

When you purchase an electric car you can qualify for up to a $7,500 tax credit. 

However, the amount you qualify for depends on the battery size, your taxable income, and whether the EV Model still qualifies.
